JEEBA was established as a cottage industry in the spring of 1981 in Melbourne, Australia. The word JEEBA is an Australian Aboriginal word meaning Springtime Corroboree (let's get together and have fun).

Much of the JEEBA collection has been inspired by the rich Victorian, Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles. There are also many original and unique designs inspired by the unusual flora of Australia and the lovely cottage gardens of England.

We make all of our jewelry (earrings, rings, bracelets, brooches and necklaces) using the lost wax-casting method, a technique that has been in use for thousands of years.

An original carving is made in metal or hard wax. A rubber mold is made of the carving and molten wax is injected into the mold to make a perfect wax replica. The replica is then encased in a plaster-like material. The plaster casing is heated over a long period at high temperatures until the wax inside vaporizes. What is left is a hollow mold into which molten silver is shot using centrifugal force. When cooled, the mold is broken open to release the metal piece. A new wax replica must be made for every piece. Each piece is then carefully hand polished.

All the metal used is sterling silver, that being the large components, the chain, the wire which goes thru the beads and all the jump-rings and catches. All the stones and beads are semi-precious gems and only genuine pearls are used. Since each piece of jewelry is individually hand made, there may be slight variations depending on the availability of the various stones and beads which are used.
